Why I'm asking for your help in purchasing the Super Citizen Program kit for my class: I wish to host a liberty camp during the Summer for children in my area. I was fortunate enough to be able to homeschool my children when the school district brought an undesirable pilot program to my son's school which is based on a theories of socialism. Our schools are at a crucial point where we must try to spread the word "liberty" to all in order to save our beloved country.

Each day as we say the Pledge of Allegiance I see that the chidren are simply reciting words without feeling. They feel it is something they have to do but don't really understand the significance to their lives today. It is my goal for the children to leave my classroom with a deeper appreciation for the country they live in and a commitment to honor and protect it.

We believe the values of our government and the history of our country is becoming less important to students. It seems as though technology with dsi, wii, and playstations have turned the kids' backs on wanting to read a nonfiction history book to learn how we became a country. We feel that it's an important part of the curriculum that seems to get pushed to the side and would love a new way to connect kids with learning their Liberty Leagacy. We have 40 students and would love to inspire as many as we can and excite them about social studies and history, as they will soon move on to middle school scholars.

Why I'm asking for your help in purchasing the Super Citizen Program kit for my class: Our school hosts a large Veteran's Day program and we invite all the veterans in our community. We make presentations, sing patriotic songs and honor our one gold-star mother. However, the teachers use classroom materials that they have put together over the years or downloaded off the internet. This leaves many gaps and untaught areas. As a 5th grade social studies teacher, I teach primarily American history. I would love to have this kit as a supplement to my curriculum as well as a resource to my co-workers to use in teaching citizenship topics.

Today students are under the impression that we just are free and there is no cost to it. They need to appreciate our country because most students don't have an appreciation of what it cost to be free. My district is a district that has a lot of military students and they don't even realize what Freedom and Liberty means. Often they don't realize that being an American citizen affords you with more opportunities than in many other countries and well as specific rights and freedoms that not appreciated the way they should be. At a former school I worked at, we did a patriotic program every May and I really enjoyed it. I would like to do it again, and it would be great to have these materials to use.

I love finding new ways to teach my students about American history, and to do it in a way they will remember. Since many of my students are military children, it is really important for them to understand the commitment their family member has made to protect our freedoms.
I purchase most of the items for my classroom, and would love to have this program as part of my curriculum. Unfortunately, I am unable to purchase this item on my own. Any help to make this available to my students would be grately appreciated. |

My students do not come from wealthy families, in fact most of my class is on free or reduced lunch. I teach a gifted class of third graders who are very bright, but need to be motivated to learn about citizenship and how the United States is made up of people from all over the world. We would appreciate any help we can acquire to help promote their knowledge of our great heritage and the value of citizenship.

In our community,the economy was hit very hard when our local textile mills closed. I feel that it is important for my students to understand how important it is for them to graduate from high school and college. Jobs are scarce around here and and my students need to learn that no matter where they are, they need to have respect for themselves, everyone around them and their community and country. Many of them have experienced the hardships of their parents being unemployed and have heard the situation being blamed on our government, President, and other governmental agencies. I want my students to understand that no matter how hard times get, they still live in the greatest country in the world!!!

When the phrase "America is a Melting Pot" my students tend to confuse/misunderstand why many cultures have and continue to gravitate towards America, the Land of the Free. Our students are mostly Hispanic American, and I feel that some of them forget the reason/s why their parents and/or grandparents made America their home. Some of our students have their parents taking their citizenship classes. This is why I value your program kit, becuase it would connect to our curriculum, our students, and parents. Our school community would love this as well since we have partnership with our local library where we can showcase our students' work with this project. I feel instilling American pride through creative ways, could foster positive attidues and patriotism; our school is named George Washington home of the Minutemen.

I see the pride and patriotic duty these Native Americans have for our country. Our tribe's language, the Navajos, was once used during WW2 to help win the war. These group of Navajo Code Talkers are a source of pride for our tribe and I would like to teach this program to my classroom to further help my students understand the reasons why we need to continue to be 'Super Citizens' of the United States.

Why I'm asking for your help in purchasing the Super Citizen Program kit for my class: Teaching about citizenship is part of our curricullum, but we don't have anything to use to teach it. We do our best to pull what we can find, but it doesn't have a flow. We would love to try something new, but times are tough and our school can't afford something new. I look at my students these days and feel they are lacking so much in character and have no idea what they should be doing as a citizen. They want what is best for them and don't care about who they hurt to get there. I would love to teach them how to be a good citizen. I would love to show them what has been done in our country's history to get them to the place they are today. I want them to love their freedom and their rights, but also have knowledge that those freedoms and rights weren't free, and that many people have fought and died for them. Why I'm asking for your help in purchasing the Super Citizen Program kit for my class: Starting in third grade with immigration, we teach our students about the history of our country. It is not enough to teach through the history books, we need the lessons to come alive and I believe a program like this will do just that. Students need an opportunity to read,write and think about how their own lives are affected each day because of the freedoms our country has given to us. In my classroom, students create a historical fiction journal pretending they came through Ellis Island from another country, and the learn all about the tough journey, and what it meant for the immigrants to see the Statue of Liberty for the first time. I think this will go hand in hand with that project, to continue the knowledge and appreciation for our great country.

I want my students to know why we stand for the pledge every day instead of slouching in the chair. I want them to want to salute the flag, and sing the National Anthem. Studnets do not know that other countries do not have the same freedoms as we do. They do not know the cost to our people of maintaining our freedom of speech and religion. i want to have a vehicle to teach them civic responsibility. They need to see that it is possible to change things through responsible participation in society. The statue also teaches about our relationship with other countries. Lastly, we have a stoy in our reader about the building of the statue and its travel to New York. This would be a fantastic extension of the story of the statue.
