You could feel the excitement in the North Sand Mountain gymnasium as 350 5th & 6th graders waited for Lady Liberty to take the stage on Sept. 30, 2014. Wearing Liberty crowns, waving flags & counting down, the students erupted in cheers at the Green Lady appeared on stage to entertain & introduce them to the Super Citizen Program students will be participating in for the next 10 weeks. Thanks to Regions Bank, these Hollywood & North Sand Mountain students are getting an energetic infusion of lessons in civics, character, financial literacy, careers & social studies despite the shrinking time dedicated to those crucial subjects in the classroom. To finish off the event, students (all the way down to kindergarten, sang & did hand motions to our song “YOU in the USA.”
