Yesterday the Liberty Learning team stood in 100 degree weather in Montgomery, Alabama. Our own Libby Liberty™ wore full patina-green makeup and heavy robes. Everyone sweated. And sweated. Everyone was exhausted.

And we would be thrilled to do it all over again.

Why? We were invited to be a part of Military Appreciation Day at Montgomery Zoo. We met with the men and women who protect and preserve American freedom at home and abroad. We met with the spouses of heroes who never came home. We sat on our Next Great Americans Tour bus with Mayor Todd Strange and military VIPs. And we watched as a next generation of Great Americans took photos with Libby and proved that civic pride is alive and well.

Liberty Learning Foundation’s mission is to teach all elementary students their important roles in America’s future. We do that by helping educators teach civics, character, financial literacy and social studies in the shrinking sliver of time they have in the classroom for those crucial subjects. Students also learn to appreciate and honor our heroes—be they custodians, teachers, parents or the men and women in uniform we all celebrated at this event.
