Today we were in what I like to call far-East Tennessee! We dropped by Northside Elementary in Johnson City, TN. When our bus pulled into the parking lot we were greeted by a large group of cheering Northside students! What a great welcome! We knew we were going to like this school!

Northside is an elementary school that focuses on math, science, and technology. At first glance, the Super Citizen program may seem like a strange fit at such a school, but that’s not really the case.

Does the Super Citizen program teach American history and heritage? Yes, but that’s not all!  Lessons in the program teach required subjects like math, science, and technology right alongside lessons of heritage, honoring veterans, etc. The teachers at Liberty Learning Foundation have done such an amazing job of integrating these lessons and subjects! Schools like Northside, and many others can benefit from the engaging curriculum included in this program!

The Northside students today were great listeners and sang their hearts out during the presentation! We were also glad to have Gary Mabrey from the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce at the show!

Northside’s principal, Ms. Sharon Pickering gave a rousing intro to the presentation, letting the students know that THEY are the Next Great Americans! Assistant Principal, Ms. Tonya Neas helped bring me out of my crate as well! It was so nice to meet both of them. We appreciated their help! Our Northside Elementary stop was lots of fun!

Tomorrow it’s on to Sycamore Elementary in Cookeville, TN!
