Today, Beverlye Magnet students gathered for an inspiring graduation event to celebrate their successful completion of the American Character Program and the immersive character lessons they’ve been learning by studying famous historical figures.
“To see them so enthusiastic about civics is extraordinary.” said Dothan City Schools Chairman Mike Schmitz. “This really will change these kids and, as business people, we’ll also get better employees out of it.”
As part of the dynamic Super Citizen Program that reaches elementary students, the middle-school-based American Character Program takes an exciting, comic-book approach to teaching students who expect multi-sensory engagement in education.
They study Americans whose civic involvement, ingenuity and leadership shaped our nation. And they’re learning how their education makes it possible to accomplish similar feats.
Finally, they honored local heroes who make a difference in their community.
