Crenshaw County students gathered together anticipating the arrival of Libby Liberty™ and her Next Great Americans Tour bus. Today, October 13th, marks the beginning of the Super Citizen Program in Crenshaw County.
385 second and third graders filled the auditorium of Luverne High School waiting for Libby to appear. The lady in green brings history to life on stage and introduces students to the 10-week civics, character, financial literacy and social studies program they will be immersed in when her bus rolls away.
These students were captivated by the program and interacted with Libby with reverence and excitement. Among the lessons she taught today: “You already hold the most important title in the United States: the title of citizen.”
Near the end of the program, students will honor heroes and become heroes themselves. To finish off the event, students joined together in a roaring “thank you” scream to their teachers and community leaders for helping them become our Next Great Americans.
