On Oct. 10, 2014, The Next Great Americans Bus Tour rolled into Douglas Elementary School to kick off the Super Citizen Program for 185 fifth graders. Today’s event and all the Super Citizen Program resource kits were donated by Marshall Co. Commission & AlaTrade Foods. Thanks to these generous corporate citizens, students are beginning an exciting infusion in civics, character, financial literacy, careers and social studies to combat shrinking times for those crucial studies in the classroom.

In today’s kick off performance, Lady Liberty brought history to life and introduced students to the program they will be participating in for the next 10 weeks. Students wore Liberty crowns, waved flags and sang along loudly to “YOU in the USA,” the program’s theme song.

Thank you to Marshall County Commissioner David Kelly for being with us to show his support. In fact, we are so proud to have had the commission supporting our programs for the past THREE YEARS! And thank you to Greg Allred. Amy Lewis and Andy Dorsett from AlaTrade Foods which has also supported our programs since 2010!
