Today, 2nd graders from Enterprise City Schools filled the auditorium at Enterprise High School. After finishing 10 weeks in the Super Citizen Program, they are gathered to celebrate their accomplishments and honor local heroes from the stage.

Thanks to Mr. Palmer and his very hands-on teaching, these students have begun learning about their important roles in America’s future. The “Hands on Liberty” DVD series and accompanying activities and lesson plans teach crucial lessons in civics, character, financial literacy and social studies to a tech-centric generation. And in the closing piece of the program, Helping Hands, students are applying those crucial lessons in the real world.

Students chose heroes who embodied the traits of amazing citizens and read essays from stage before presenting them with Liberty Pins. They learned that “when you honor a hero, you become a hero!”

Vice Principal Ivy Murry

Just one of the heroes was Vice Principal Ivy Murry. She was singled out for her dedication to the students and her staunch opposition to bullying. It was clear she’s made a huge impact on the students’ lives.

In addition to her praise of the Super Citizen Program and its impact in Enterprise City Schools, Murry applauded the partnership between Liberty Learning Foundation and Alabama 200.

“I love going to the Archives and the capitol. Some kids may never have that opportunity. But you’re bringing that to them,” says Murry.  “You’re giving them pride in our state. Therefore, they’ll be great citizens for America. Exposing students to our state’s rich culture is absolutely priceless.”
