As Mrs. Taylor’s 3rd grade class begins the “Torch Teams” unit of the Super Citizen Program, you see the kind of real-world application the program uses to maximize impact on these students. Students nominate everyday heroes who exemplify the traits of heoroes or “Super Citizens,” and teachers lead them through an exploratory process of the whats and whys of choosing the heroes they will invite and honor on stage at the Graduation Celebration. We’re alsways so excited to see all the hard work and lessons come full-circle when students read their introductions for their local heroes on stage. It proves that “When you honor a hero, you become a hero.”
