This evening, November 5th, Guntersville Elementary School honored heroes in a very special way. They held a huge patriotic program to celebrate Veterans Day and graduation from The Super Citizen Program.
The gymnasium was full of community leaders, parents, teachers and veterans as the students cheerfully marched single file into place. They wore white robes with red and blue accents while Liberty Crowns sat proudly on their heads. They filled risers and waved their flags as they sang beautiful songs of freedom and liberty.
The heroes they honored tonight were the veterans of their community. While they sang, slides of men and women who have fought, and continue to fight, for our freedoms flashed in the background. It was incredibly moving and the crowd leaped to their feet as the students sang their final song. Mrs. Talley, the music teacher worked tirelessly to put this program together and she did a top-notch job leading the students in this touching event.
The Super Citizen Program by Liberty Learning Foundation has equipped these students with knowledge in civics, character, financial literacy, careers and their roles in America’s future. With the lessons they have learned from Libby Liberty™, her helping hand Mr. Palmer and their excellent teachers, they are ready to take their communities by storm!
Many thanks to the community leaders, teachers, families and the generous sponsors from Regions Bank and Alatrade Foods, Inc. for helping these students become super citizens.
