Eight Jones Valley Elementary students began the Super Citizen Program kickoff with a stirring rendition of our National Anthem.
It’s the second year Liberty Learning Foundation’s Next Great Americans Bus Tour has been on hand to help students, teachers and the entire community begin the program with an exciting kickoff event; featuring Lady Liberty, live music and video.
For the next 10 weeks, 75 5th grade students will learn crucial lessons in civics, character, financial literacy, career exploration and our Great American Story.
Charles Brinkley, a parent at Jones Valley says, “I think kids can do a lot and sometimes they need to understand that they can make a difference.”
Speaking of making a difference: These lessons would not be possible without the support of strong corporate citizens: Huntsville’s Aegis Technologies proudly sponsored today’s event and the teaching tools that will propel these students into their next chapters of becoming outstanding citizens.
The program will culminate with a project-based learning activity in which students nominate, carefully select and, ultimately, honor local heroes from stage during their graduation celebration. The public is invited but check our calendar as dates / times are subject to change.
