Alabama Power Foundation Celebrates 25 Years of Community Service & Giving – A Letter From a Recipient of APF’s Generosity
Happy Anniversary to the Alabama Power Foundation! For 25 years, the foundation has been supporting and enabling non-profit organizations throughout Alabama to provide much-needed services to our citizens. And the Liberty Learning Foundation has been blessed to be a recipient of their generosity.
In the fall of 2012, we met with representatives from Alabama Power about a new, exciting program for pre-k and elementary school children. The “Super Citizen Program” makes learning history, civics, character, financial literacy and career readiness exciting. The immersive learning experiences teach students to become responsible, outstanding citizens- Super Citizens. And the Liberty Learning Foundation, in partnership with the Alabama Power Foundation, wanted to bring this program to every elementary school within their specific areas.
During the 2013-2014 academic year, more than 7,000 elementary students were provided this program through this partnership. It was a resounding success – thanks to the support of the Alabama Power Foundation. It not only made a huge impact on the children, but it also rallied entire communities throughout the state. And we are extremely grateful for the continued support of the program within each division. Students throughout Alabama are learning how to define their roles in America’s future – and become proud, responsible citizens, as well as future employees of Alabama businesses – our “Next Great Americans.”
What amazes me the most about Alabama Power Foundation’s charitable giving is, it not only consist of “writing a check”, it also encompasses energetic and dedicated volunteers and truly caring community leaders. Alabama Power Foundation cares about individual communities as well as the State of Alabama as a whole. The number of Alabama citizens whose lives have been impacted by this great foundation simply cannot be counted.
Through our partnership with Alabama Power Foundation, our Foundation team has been inspired and motivated to “push harder” in helping to make our wonderful state a better place for us to live, work and play. We are very grateful to them for their continuing and unending support. And we are humbled to be part of true leadership that is dedicated to “Elevating” the great state so many of us calls “home.”
