On what might have been a somber Sept. 11 anniversary, students recited the Pledge of Alligiance and celebrated the power they have as citizens in the land of the free. The date stood as a reminder of our the fragileness of our freedoms and the importance of educating our Next Great Americans. Second graders at Madison Academy are beginning the Liberty Learning “Hands on Liberty” Program and third graders are starting the Super Citizen Program. After today’s kickoff starring Lady Liberty herself, the students will work through lessons in civics, ethics, character, financial literacy, careers & our great American Story back in their classrooms. The programs will culminate wilth a celebration that has students honoring local heroes from stage. By nominating and learning about these everyday heroes, students put all their lessons to use and begin modeling the character and behaviors of those heroes. Or as we always say … “when you honor a hero, you become a hero.”
Thank you to AEgis Technologies for sponsoring these crucial lessons and today’s exciting kickoff in the school!
