Right now we are driving through the beautiful mountains of East Tennessee!

Unfortunately, yesterday’s event in Harrison, TN was cancelled because the school was closed due to flooding. We hope that everyone in Harrison and the Chattanooga area is recovering well from the storms that came through there. We did, however, get to meet a wonderful lady from Harrison Elementary named Ms. Perryman who helped us out. It was such a pleasure to meet her and get to talk to her for a while!

Today we visited New Hopewell Elementary in Knoxville, TN! The students and principal, Ms. Melanie Harb, were all about their mission statement, which Ms. Harb had the students recite (by memory!) at the end of the program. Here is the statement:

Our mission is to have a caring place to learn and reach our goals.  We will all do our personal best and work together to become productive citizens with good character!

Character building lessons are another important part of the Super Citizen program. Although history is taught through the lessons of the program, other subjects such as math, science, financial literacy, and character building are all included. A Super Citizen not only has knowledge, but also integrity and a good name!

We appreciate Ms. Harb’s & Ms. Sherrie Young’s help in bringing the Super Citizen program to New Hopewell Elementary! We were so encouraged by their enthusiasm!

We were also happy to have Ms. Brandi Self from the Tennessee Arts Commission come to see the program!

Lastly, I want to mention Baileyton RV Park in Baileyton, TN, and thank them for their kindness and for helping us in our mission!

Next, we’re headed to Northside Elementary in Johnson City, TN!
