Elementary students from seven schools in Dekalb County (Valley Head, Fyffe, Henagar, Ider, Moonlake, Plainview and Sylvania) joined this morning in the DeKalb County Schools Coliseum for a kick-off of the Super Citizen programs.

The Civic Center was packed with students in red, white and blue who were cheering at the top of their lungs for Libby Liberty™ who brought history to life today on stage.  After this performance, students will begin a 10-week, civic education program in the classroom. They’ll learn civics, character, financial literacy and social studies. Then, the entire program culminates with a project-based learning activity that has students nominating and honoring local heroes back on this stage. Because, as we say< “when you honor a hero, you become a hero.”

Sponsors from Alatrade Foods, Inc., Lee Energy and the Liberty Alliance were in attendance to show their support of these students and even sang along as they raised their voices for freedom with the Next Great Americans bus tour theme song “You in the USA”.  Liberty Learning Foundation and Libby look forward to greatness with these special students, the next great Americans.
