Today, over 450 2nd graders from Grandview, Hidden Lake, Montana Street, Cloverdale and Heard Magnet Elementary Schools filled the Northview High School gymnasium. After finishing 10 weeks in the Super Citizen Program, they are gathered to celebrate their accomplishments and honor local heroes from the stage.

After being honored today, Stanley Davis, school mentor, retired from U.S. Department of Justice, says, “I hope they learn the importance of being a citizen, learn to respect others, and understand that they have a voice in the future of this country. The things that they learn from [Liberty Learning Foundation] and from us as mentors will shape them into being better citizens.”
Students chose heroes who embodied the traits of amazing citizens and read essays from stage before presenting them with Liberty Pins. They learned that “when you honor a hero, you become a hero!”
