Liberty Learning Foundation & Lady Liberty Live made a tour stop at Heritage Elementary School in Huntsville, AL to help them kick off the Super Citizen Program.
We were thrilled to welcome Madison Mayor Paul Finley and Col. (retired) Edward L Mullin representing Northrop Grumman who generously donated $4,000 worth of Program Kits to Madison City Schools.
Thanks to faculty, administrators and those super, Super Citizens who helped us celebrate freedom and liberty!
ABOUT THE NEXT GREAT AMERICANS TOUR & LIBERTY LEARNING FOUNDATION
The Next Great Americans Tour is leading a movement that’s getting students excited about our great nation’s history and their important roles in its future.
Each tour stop brings students, parents, faculty, veterans, community and business leaders together to kick off the Liberty Learning “Super Citizen” Program. The free events include a performance by Lady Liberty Live, who brings The Statue of Liberty to life amidst high-energy, original music & multi-media.
“These events are just a taste of how tools like the “Super Citizen” Program make learning engaging & fun,” says Liberty Learning Foundation founder Patti Yancey. “We’re thrilled to support The Program because it helps educators teach required subjects and character-building lessons that have so little funding in schools today.”
“We’re looking for people to help along the way too,” she says. “In every city, we’re calling on proud, passionate Americans to help donate “Super Citizen” Program kits to the next schools on our tour route, to help keep the bus moving … and to help ensure the enthusiasm continues log after the bus rolls away.”
Early “Super Citizen” Program adopter, and elementary school principal, Mike Shipp says, “Character education is a huge focus. Seeing how our country was formed and how we got to where we are today is eye-opening to these children.”
“It’s about embracing what we have in terms of liberty and personal freedoms,” says principal Patricia Kuhn. “and what our ancestors went through to have that freedom.”
Yancey goes on to explain that The Next Great Americans Tour purposely coincides with the 125th birthday of The Statue of Liberty and is a reminder that throughout times of financial struggle, political discord and even apathy, Lady Liberty stands as a non-partisan symbol of freedom, liberty & The Land of Opportunity.
“That ‘Land of Opportunity’ will be preserved, celebrated & protected by the The Next Great Americans,” says Yancey. “We know our mission of delivering these inspiring tools free of charge to classrooms across the country is ambitious. We also realize that we Americans have a history of dreaming big … and succeeding.”
