What a very special day we had today. We were so thrilled to be able to visit Diamond Elementary on the Ft. Stewart, GA army base.

One of the stated goals of the Super Citizen program is to “honor the true heroes among us.” The men & women serving in the United States military are some of those heroes. The students at Diamond Elementary know all about the sacrifices made by these men and women AND their families. All of the DES students come from military families, and many of them have a parent who is deployed right now.

The president of Liberty’s Legacy, Patti Yancey, attended today’s event and said it best when she said that we are all so grateful to the military families in America for their sacrifices. We were honored today to be able to visit this school, and especially to take the Super Citizen program to such a special group of students!

We saw such enthusiasm from not only the students, but also the faculty of Diamond Elementary! I was able to speak with Mrs. Dacie Dale before the program. Her husband is in the military and deploys again in November. She shared with me her excitement about the program and the emotion she felt as she listened to our tour anthems, “Next Great Americans” and “You in the U.S.A.” She said that because there are many children at Diamond whose parents are deployed, this program and these songs make an exceptional emotional connection with these students. As Lady Liberty, I stand for freedom for all Americans. These students have a unique understanding of the price paid for that freedom.  We hope to convey at least some of that understanding to all students in every school across the country with our program.

A very generous donation was made to Diamond Elementary by an anonymous donor. Because of this donor, Diamond received many Super Citizen kits free of charge! With the help of other passionate and generous individuals and businesses, we hope that we can repeat this in schools across the country!

Thank you to all who made today possible, especially Mrs. Dale! Thank you to Diamond Elementary for having us, and for providing a place for us to meet with your teachers after the show. We had a wonderful time!

I think that all of us at the Liberty Learning Foundation, and perhaps some others today, had a tear in our eyes at one point or another. As I state in our program, we have a passion for what we are doing, and a hope that we can share that passion with the next generation!
